Balfour Beatty Living Places has been awarded Hampshire County Council’s Traineeship Team of the Year Award at the Hampshire CITB Investors in Young People Awards, for its ongoing commitment to supporting trainees within the business.
The Traineeship Team of the Year Award recognises contractors who have supported a number of trainees within their organisation, to learn key business administration skills.
The training approach taken by Balfour Beatty Living Places led the team to success due to the programme being specifically tailored to each young person’s needs, many of whom were in Not Education, Employment or Training (NEET) prior to joining. In particular, Balfour Beatty Living Places has worked to enhance the trainees’ strengths.
The trainee scheme is an example of Balfour Beatty Living Places’ collaborative approach to training. During last summer’s placement, the trainees were supported by a variety of teams from Balfour Beatty Living Places’ Health, Safety and Environmental Services (HSES), Facilities team and the Southern Delivery Unit.

The construction industry offers many opportunities for young people and we are committed to supporting their career development through on-going training and work experience placements.”
